360° Systemic Sandbox Analysis & Redesign of Valheim

The Challenge: Deconstruct Valheim’s Hybrid Sandbox core loop to analyze how player agency and emergent gameplay drive retention.

The Method: Reverse-engineered the game through systemic interactions (weather/stability), player psychology (SDT Framework), and progression tools.

The Redesign: Developed an alternative 'Controlled Sandbox' framework, replacing organic world generation with a concentric, boss-gating ring system to restrict macro-progression.
